If you missed Paddy Keenan on April 12 (or want to relive some of the fun) check out Mickey performing An Poc Ar Buile with Paddy Keenan, John Walsh & Oisín McAuley
Apologies for the poor video quality. We'll find an HD camera next time.
In case you think we're talking about drugs, we're not. "Crack"
means just for fun, from the gaelic word "craic".
"Good, and you, Mickey? Good, Mickey, and you Mickey?"
My simple
rating system is easy for you to follow. Films are rated from
0 pints (an empty glass) for the absolute bottom of the barrel,
up to an outstanding 8 pints (which makes a gallon if you
weren't paying attention during weights and measures in school).
My new favorite
website (besides this one, of course) is IMDb.
Click the titles below to get IMDb's take on some of these
DVDs.
The Upside of Anger
-
2 pints.
The only upside of this movie
was Erika Christensen, Evan Rachel Wood and Keri Russell.
With Kevin Costner playing the lead I don't know why I should
have expected something worth watching. Barely worth renting.
Cinderella Man
- 8 Pints
and a Bud out of the fridge! This film was outstanding! One
of the best boxing movies ever made. Even if you don't like
boxing, the story, setting, and acting are well worth seeing.
Highly recommended by our bartender,
B.J., I rented this. Unfortunately I didn't find it nearly
as humorous as expected. A few funny bits, but not a favorite.
2.5
Pints
Ray (2004)
Outstanding! This was one of
the best pictures of the year. Jamie Foxx deserved his Oscar
for his performance.
Gallon!
Meet the Fockers (2004)
Yet another sequel to a movie
that wasn't great to begin with. Not worth the rental fee.
Empty
glass
Dirty Filthy Love (2004)
A little-known film but one
not to be missed.
Gallon!
The Aviator (2004)
With Martin Scorsese directing
and Leonardo DiCaprio playing the lead as eccentric kabillionaire
Howard Hughes I expected a lot worse, but was pleasantly surprised.
6.5

Irish joke of the moment
We've got our own recipe for Irish stew: Get some meat, some potatoes and a lot of Guinness Stout. Drink all of the stout. Forget about the stew.
